Why this matters

Linguists tracking the impact of ChatGPT on published English have found 'delve' rising more than any other verb post-2022, including in academic abstracts where it had been previously rare. The word is almost never used in spoken English. If a draft contains 'delve' more than once, it is almost certainly AI-assisted.
